Dawn Brady MorrisAppeals Manager – Senior PTC
Dawn joined Texas Protax in 2007 and specializes in both commercial and residential properties in Travis, Williamson and Hays Counties. Dawn’s commercial emphasis is on apartment and office properties. For residential properties, Dawn specializes in downtown high rise condo tower valuation.
Prior to joining the Texas Protax team, Dawn worked as a commercial appraiser with the Travis Central Appraisal District. Dawn valued the Travis County Office Portfolio for over five years. Her area of expertise included offices, major industrial, hotels/motels, banks, golf courses and funeral homes.
Dawn currently is on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals (TAPTP) and the TAPTP Conference Chairperson.
Dawn is a third generation Austinite, a true unicorn and a true advocate of living south of the river! Hook ‘em and Go Cowboys!

Gil CowanAppeals Manager – Property Tax Consultant
Gil has been involved in Austin real estate since purchasing his first investment property in 1995. He is a graduate of New York University and is both a Licensed Residential Appraiser and Real Estate Broker. His favorite color is green.

Rine KaatzAppeals Manager – Senior PTC
Rine joined Texas Protax in 2009 and specializes in residential property in both Travis and Williamson Counties.
Prior to joining the Texas Protax team, Rine worked as an ad valorem appraisal manager and residential supervisor with the Travis Central Appraisal District. His more than ten years of experience with ad valorem appraisal and knowledge of the construction industry bring a solid addition to our staff.
In addition, Rine served our country in the United States Air Force and is an avid outdoorsman.

Scott ImpsonTeam Lead – Property Tax Consultant
Scott joined Texas Protax in 2011. Currently Scott specializes in high-end residential properties in Travis County. He began his career in the property tax industry in 2002 and has more than 17 years of experience as a consultant and as an appraiser. Scott worked for four years at Collin Central Appraisal District as a Residential Appraiser and two years as a Residential Supervisor at the Travis Central Appraisal District. Scott has more than 11 years of experience as a Property Tax Consultant working in Travis, Williamson, Harris, Dallas and Tarrant counties.
Scott holds a BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA in Finance from the University of North Texas.
Scott enjoys outdoor activities including running, tennis, golf and saltwater fishing.

Daniela CaballeroProperty Tax Consultant
Daniela joined the Texas Protax residential team in 2018. She brought with her five years of successful experience in construction and property management. Daniela’s greatest passion is to serve others and is highly committed to creating a positive experience for every client and prospective client. She graduated from Texas A&M in 2015. A believer in the power of teamwork and positive thinking, Daniela is also a visual arts teacher for aspiring artists in Austin on the weekends.

David J. BrownSenior Property Tax Consultant
Dave joined Texas Protax in 2016 as part of the commercial team in Travis County. He also represents clients for agricultural issues around Central Texas. Previously he served as supervisor in the residential department for Bexar Central Appraisal District. He enjoys piña coladas, getting caught in the rain and is a lousy but enthusiastic golfer.

James ReedProperty Tax Consultant
James is a top-producing Property Tax Consultant in Travis County. He received his training and licensing in Houston, TX in 2007 where he became the top producing agent in his second year at the firm. James is also a member of the Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals (TAPTP) since 2013. James specializes in formal ARB appeals and Arbitrations involving high-end residential accounts. James not only holds a winning mentality, but also always strives to build relationships with his clients. Although James works in Austin, his home front is in Pearland, TX where his wife, four daughters and only son (a two-year-old, toy chihuahua Dash) reside. During his down time, James enjoys football Sundays with his Houston Texans and has a passion for sports cars.

Jennifer joined the Texas Protax family in January 2009. Since joining Protax, she has worked meticulously with residential and commercial consultants. Jennifer primarily focuses on high-end residential property. She loves what she does and goes above and beyond to make each and every client happy!
In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoor life Austin has to offer, being with her family of 4, eating fancy cuisine and talking the tax biz every chance she gets.

John EdlProperty Tax Consultant
John joined Texas Protax in 2013. He has been a Certified Residential Appraiser for nearly 20 years. John has worked as an appraiser in the private sector for Southwest Real Estate and Appraisal. He was also employed for five years as a residential and commercial appraiser for the Travis Central Appraisal District. John received his BA from Saint Edward’s in Austin.

As a native Austinite and student of math and sciences at Arizona State University, Jonathan began his career as a drafter for a steel manufacturing company out of Buda. In 2015, Jonathan joined Texas Protax and is now a full-time agent. After bravely donating a kidney in 2016, he now has to remind his waiter, “No salt on the rim, please,” when ordering a Margarita.

Krystin DanchakSenior Property Tax Consultant
Krystin joined the Texas Protax residential team in 2008. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Studies and Art History from the University of Texas in 2011. While at UT, her Urban Studies concentration was in Urban Planning and Real Estate. She used her studies to further her knowledge and skillset in Property Tax Consulting. Her interest and understanding of Real Estate and Urban Planning has made her an integral part of the residential team.
She is also an avid football fan. Hook ‘em Horns!

Steve WilliamsProperty Tax Consultant
Steve joined the Texas Protax team in 2019. After leaving the U.S. Army, he worked for Texas’ premier parent-taught driver education course and quickly rose to the position of Vice President of Operations. He also spearheaded the establishment and growth of a new t-shirt printing shop in Lakeway.
Steve and his wife currently have five children, all boys and they have been active foster parents for more than seven years. They have owned and managed residential and commercial rental properties for more than 15 years.
Having spent the previous two decades teaching driver education, Steve hopes appealing property tax increases will be slightly less dangerous.

Alex Ontiveros Property Tax Consultant
Alex came to Texas Protax in 2014 and has been a licensed Property Tax Consultant since 2008. Before joining Protax, Alex represented property owners in Brazoria, Harris, Montgomery, Travis and Williamson Counties. He now specializes in residential property for taxpayers in Travis County both before the Appraisal Review Board and in Binding Arbitration.

Jeff NanneyPresident – Senior Property Tax Consultant
Jeff has been with Texas Protax since 2000 and specializes in commercial property with an emphasis on industrial properties, warehouses, offices and retail spaces. Prior to his association with Texas Protax, Jeff was a vice president with the Trammell Crow Company for nine years. As Director of Industrial Property Management in Austin, Jeff was responsible for the financial success and overall operation of eighty-five buildings totaling seven million square feet for numerous institutional investors.
Prior to that, Jeff was with the Travis Central Appraisal District for five years in the Commercial Research and Development division specializing in retail properties. He previously spent three years at the Central Tax Authority in Taylor County as a residential and commercial appraiser.
Jeff earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Jeff is a licensed real estate agent and his professional associations include the Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals, Austin Board of Realtors, and Citizens for Appraisal Reform.

Susan K. BawcomAuthorization Officer
Susan joined Texas Protax as a software developer/analyst in 2004. She developed and maintains the Appraisal Assistant solution, a proprietary automated valuation tool used by Texas Protax Austin, Inc. A native of southeast Texas, Susan attended Lamar University in Beaumont majoring in Computer Science. She has held a Project Management Institute (PMI) certification since 2003 and is a member of the Austin PMI Association.

David R. BawcomDirector of Appeals – Property Tax Consultant
David Bawcom joined with the predecessor to the Texas Protax business before 1988. He continued on with the business when Texas Protax was started in 1988. David earned his BBA at Texas Tech in 1970 with a major in accounting. He earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1972 at the University of Texas Law School.
David was a member of the Texas State Society of Certified Public Accounts from 1972 – 1984 and has been a member of the State Bar of Texas since 1972. He has been a member of the Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals (TAPTP) since 1990. David specializes in complex appeals involving residential and commercial accounts.

Debra G. BawcomCEO – Senior Property Tax Consultant
Debra has been with Texas Protax since 1995 and has worked through the company to become our Chief Executive Officer. Since her role as the CEO, Debra has focused on ensuring each associate is inspired to provide the best taxpayer experience for each of our clients. She continues to balance the needs of our associates and clients with the realities of the appraisal calendar. Prior to her new role, Debra specialized in the property tax management of residential development communities, but has ultimately represented every property type we have which allows us to rely on Debra to be called into hearings for special appeals.
Debra received her Juris Doctor degree from Texas Wesleyan School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree from McMurry University. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas since 2005 and is also a licensed Senior Property Tax Consultant. Debra has served as President of the Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals (TAPTP) among other Board and Executive level appointments. She currently serves as the Education Committee Chair and is an instructor for TAPTP’s Education Seminars. Debra has also been appointed as an advisory council member for the Property Tax Consultant’s Advisory Board with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. When not working in property tax, Debra loves to follow the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team but is also huge fan of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. Go #33!
